The first Sunday of September is held every year, in Seravezza (LU), the "Fiera del Nove or dei Becchi" fair.
The agro-zoological fair derives from an ancient tradition; Livestock breeders and merchants of Alta Versilia met every 9 September to buy and sell livestock, especially male goats called the "becchi", hence the name of the festival.
Over time the fair has transformed and now in addition to farmyard and farm animals, the event hosts events, local artisans, typical products and everything related to the rural world.
There will be goats, and farmyard and farm animals. The stands of typical local products, and the first edition of the "tordelliadi". And the walk in the company of donkeys, the "micci".
In the Medicea Area there will be the parade of goats, a demonstration of the "tessandore", the Versilian weavers, exhibitions and tastings of typical products of the area, stands of artisans and nurserymen, in a late summer event where they can be seen live some species of animals that are usually found only in agritourisms or farms.
There will be among others alpacas and peacocks, sheep, goats, dwarf cows, ornamental chickens, Vietnamese piglets, horned oxen and wild boar dogs. A fenced path will allow children to approach animals safely.
You can have lunch at the festival stand, which starting from 12.30 will prepare the typical seravezzini tordelli and more.
The Compagnia del miccio of Querceta then organizes Asinando per Seravezza, an ecological walk with donkeys carried by hand. Departure is at 9.30 am from the Medicea Area. Arrival at 11 for an aperitif and lunch organized by the Pro Loco.
Finally, at 6 pm there will be The Goat Parade, a fun competition, which recovers the original soul of the ancient livestock market.
